About

Alex at ProductCamp Toronto 2010I work with businesses across the world to design, plan and implement creative marketing strategies that are goal oriented. My expertise is internet / digital campaigns, social media and search engine optimization but my experience is far broader and well applied.

It all started with a $200 investment that I grew by 9,000% in 12 months and by 19 I had started and sold four businesses (Minus Designs, Exize & Fragamania have since been re-branded by the buyer).

I was Young Citizen of the Year (2006, news articlepress release), have been nominated for YAA Young Business Person of the Year (news article), lead team Yaussie to Company of the Year award while winning numerous Marketing awards (here, page 6, and launch party coverage 1 & 2) and was invited to join the Shoalhaven Youth Advisory Committee (here). I’ve also acted as a founding member for an organization created in response to the Haiti Earthquake (here).

Now I am living across the pond in Toronto, Ontario after 8 months of travel. I hold a degree in Marketing & International Studies which I studied at both the University of Wollongong, Australia and the DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University, Canada.

As well as toying with technology I’m a:

  • Speaker (speak at & occasionally organize Toronto based marketing seminars),
  • Event guy (recently organized the TechCrunch Meetup for 40 attendees and am a committee member / media relations guy for the upcoming Freelance Camp Toronto)
  • Marketer extraordinaire and social media addict (this blog has been built to 2,800 subscribers and my Twitter has over 34,000 followers)
  • Startup junkie (especially tech; see previous companies)
  • Permanent fixture at surrounding coffee shops (especially those with WiFi).
